FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
June 2, 2026 — Aspen, CO — Experimental music project Makeshivt Kity, led by musician and writer Jordannah Elizabeth Graham-Mayer, has released a new recording titled Experimental Cello & Voice, an intimate electroacoustic work featuring cellist Kate Porter.
The release continues Graham-Mayer’s ongoing exploration of voice as material and cello as both melodic and textural instrument, unfolding in a stripped-down sonic environment where acoustic performance and abstraction converge. Rather than adhering to traditional song structure, the piece emphasizes process, gesture, and timbral transformation.
Across its duration, Experimental Cello & Voice moves between proximity and dissolution—where human voice and bowed strings are gradually reshaped through space, silence, and subtle sonic manipulation. The result is a sparse but immersive work that foregrounds fragility, resonance, and the expressive potential of minimal means.
Cellist Kate Porter’s performance anchors the recording, offering a grounded yet fluid counterpoint to the voice, as both elements drift between clarity and abstraction. The collaboration highlights a shared interest in improvisation, texture, and the liminal space between composition and documentation.
This release forms part of the broader Makeshivt Kity practice, which continues to investigate experimental recording techniques and hybrid acoustic-electronic forms. Through this work, Graham-Mayer expands her evolving sonic language—one that treats listening itself as a shifting perceptual environment.
